Verified ReviewerFruad paid cash for services 0 balance and great expressions double dipped they charged humana
I'm only allowed $1500 on my Humana coverage for 2025, so when I needed my teeth cleaned for the second time, I was told by Humana that they would not cover the bill. I had to pay for it out of my pocket.
I asked Great Expressions for an itemized bill showing all work and price: no x-rays, no fluoride, no irrigation, just a basic cleaning. The hygienist did a basic cleaning. The bill was handed to me; I offered my credit card, and they told me there would be a 4% charge for using it. I declined, and they said they accept cash.
I gave them 2 dollars over the bill and was told that they would mail the $2. I waited 3 weeks and called to ask them about the money, and I was told that I owed money and the $2 was taken out. That was *** I told her that I have the itemized bill with me and it shows a 0 balance. What they did was bill Humana, even though I paid cash for the cleaning; they got paid twice.
*** doubled dipped, paid twice. I'm filing a complaint with the dentist board and Humana. This is not the first time this office has charged for work not done.
I will get my $2 back; these are thieves who got caught. Lucky I have the bill and the money I paid, ***

- Billing dept are thieves the dentest always changes every 2 to 3 months

User's recommendation: go else where or ask for an itemized bill before work is done, the'll try to tell you that the printer is not working then tell them to write it down, can you imagen how much money they been ripping off the insurance and patience thousands BEWARE!

Verified Reviewer |I was simply left in chronic pain with little help
I had an initial appointment for March 11, 2025 at Great Expressions Westland office for periodontal disease (receding gums). I was already experiencing pain because of exposed nerves, mostly when hot or cold hit the affected area.
They diagnosed what I already knew, but informed me that they don't do the needed procedure at that office (deep cleaning) and referred me to another office. Fine so far. I called that office but was told they no longer accept my Medicare Aetna insurance. So I called back Westland for another referral.
This time I was referred to their Canton office. I called there and was given an appointment for April 22, 6 weeks later. Over the next two weeks, the dull pain I was having worsened to a chronic sharper pain that radiated across my face and into my forehead. I used ibuprofen and other pain relievers which did little to alleviate the pain.
It got so bad one night, I decided to show up to the Westland office first thing when they opened the next morning to get some help. After explaining to the lady at the front desk the migraine-like pain I was experiencing, she informed me she couldn't fit me in the schedule that day. Really?! They are fine with letting a patient suffer?
They can't squeeze me in somewhere in their busy schedule to get this pain numbed out so I can function? But they did schedule me for the next morning. So I dealt with the pain another night. But when I arrived for that appointment, I was given a coating of fluoride to dull the pain and prescribed an antibiotic.
Firstly, the fluoride hardly had no affect on the pain. Secondly, there was no infection. The pain was coming from exposed nerves. An antibiotic was useless.
So I was left with the same pain! And I would have to wait another month for the Canton appointment? As I literally couldn't live with the pain another day, I had to visit my primary care doctor to get some pain medication. Finally some relief!
As I eagerly awaited the Canton appointment, still experiencing ongoing pain, they called me within days of that appointment and informed me the dentist who would perform the procedure would not be in that day and they would have to reschedule. Okay, that's fine. But I expected to get in the next day maybe? Nope, I was told they would reschedule me another two weeks out!
I explained to this lady the same thing I explained to the lady at the Westland office that I have chronic pain and need help sooner than that. She simply said she couldn't fit me in any sooner. I told her that I can't deal with this pain any longer and since they are the ones cancelling my appointment, they should get me in sooner. She didn't really care.
"Sorry, that's the earliest we can get you in". My last words to her was that they "just lost a patient". She didn't seem to care. "That's the best we can do".
If that's the best they can do, they need to do some heavy thinking about patient care and customer service. Because what they put me through is unfathomable. I'm 65 years old and have never been treated that like that in any medical facility.
My honest opinion... Great Expressions should be called Great Disappointments!

From: Pamela D. Cunningham
Subject: Request for Refund Due to Canceled and Unsatisfactory Services Date: May 25, 2025
Dear Great Expressions Dental Centers,
I am writing to formally request a refund for services rendered during my visit on May 22, 2025, at your Lawrenceville, GA location:
Dr.
Nasim Rahimi, DMD
1960 Riverside Parkway, Suite 200
Lawrenceville, GA 30043
Phone: (678) 436-****
Upon my arrival, I asked the office manager whether I would be charged for a consultation. She informed me she would need to confirm with Dr. Rahimi. I also advised her that I had brought a copy of my recent x-rays, already covered by my insurance through another dental provider.
I was assured by the office manager that there would be no charge for either the consultation or the x-rays.
However, shortly after being seated, the dental assistant and Dr. Rahimi began an exam and measured my gums without obtaining any written consent or signatures from me. I was confused, especially considering the previous assurance that there would be no charges. Despite this, I was informed during the procedure that x-rays were necessary for insurance coverage.
At no point did I give verbal or written consent to proceed with the examination or any charges.
The dentist later acknowledged that proper intake procedures and consent forms had not been completed and apologized, stating she assumed the front office had already taken care of them.
After the appointment, I reviewed my receipt and discovered a charge of $1254.00 for x-rays and dental expressions. I contacted your office on May 23rd, 24th, and 27th and left multiple messages expressing my dissatisfaction with the service and requesting cancellation of further treatment and a refund. I was told by the office manager that since the job had already begun, it could not be canceled.
Been dealing with customer services and they are unwilling to submit the right information to my insurance UnitedHealthcare and Carecredit to give me my refund. Now, Carecredit sent me a high bill because of their incompetence.
I definitely don't recommend this dental service.
Additionally, I contacted both CareCredit and UnitedHealthcare to report the situation. My insurance provider advised that I am entitled to request a refund if I am dissatisfied with the services provided.
Given the lack of consent, miscommunication, and procedural oversight, I respectfully request a full refund for the $1254.00 charge.
I would appreciate a timely response and resolution to this matter.
Sincerely,
Pamela D. Cunningham

Hidden unannounced charges; suspect 'antibiotic'
Deceptive charges, suspect 'antibiotic' staff wanted payment for; dental doctor was absent from office with pt not being informed. Staff were more like used car salesmen pushing their services while attempting to convince pt of having multiple problems.
when pt didn't have those issues recently. Was kept waiting in chair for over one hour without any apologies nor explanations.Avoid and report to fed authorities if deceit is noted.
User's recommendation: avoid
Deceptive entity
Staff tried to convince me of my having multiple dental "problems" whereas recently I had none of what they claimed. Also tried to convince me to pay for some (unknown) Avoid'antibiotic' they wanted to administer immediately to address those 'problems'. Dental doc was absent.

Verified ReviewerBad experience
I recently attended an appointment at Great Expression Dentistry in Naples, FL. I feel it is necessary to explain my experience and for the company to put measures in place to make sure future patient rights are not violated as I was.
There are a few positives I would like to mention about my experience at the clinic.
It was clean, they seemed to be running on time, the dental assistant was kind, and they did a good job taking my x-rays. Unfortunately, the positives stop here. Complaints and concerns are as follows:
1. Initially I was told I have a $5 co-pay for each office visit.
I consulted with my insurance company and was told this is false; there is a $0 copay per visit. Great Expressions did not properly verify the insurance benefits before my appointment.
2. I received a complete set of x-rays and a panoramic film x-ray at the appointment. The latter was not covered under my insurance.
Upon speaking with my insurance company, I was told both of these x-rays given on the same date are considered a duplication of services and are not medically necessary. This dentist office is trying to take advantage of its clients by performing unnecessary x-rays.
3. The dentist, Dr. Fidler, was abrupt and rude.
He came into the room, asked if I was in any pain, looked at my teeth, said a few things to his assistant, and abruptly left. He did not allow time for me to ask him questions, he didn't speak with me about the condition of my teeth, didn't give me tips on how to improve things. He took a "quick peek" and left. In fact, he was speaking to his assistant about the condition of my mouth while walking down the hallway leaving the exam room.
I thought he was leaving the room to get something and the dental assistant said the visit was complete. Every dentist I've ever seen consulted with me, the patient, after examining my mouth and we've worked together on how to improve things. This guy said a few things to his assistant and walked out so I didn't even get a chance to ask questions, very unprofessional.
4. After waiting a second time in the waiting room, one of the ladies working the front desk named Laura called me up and wanted to discuss the "treatment plan" in the waiting room in front of everyone.
Patient conditions should be discussed in private, not in a waiting room where other patients can eavesdrop and learn about my personal health conditions - this place VIOLATED MY HIPPA!!
5. I had questions about the treatment recommended versus my current health condition and the front desk girl, Laura, started using a nasty tone and said, "This is what the doctor recommended during the visit and if you don't follow this plan, you cannot continue as a patient."
First of all, the dentist saw me for literally 2 minutes and never actually spoke with me, so I never agreed nor was consulted about anything. When I questioned the clinical decisions, Laura, the front desk girl, sarcastically stated she is not clinical, the dentist doesn't have time to speak with me, and his recommendation stands (still in the middle of the waiting room). I never had a chance to hear the rationale for the recommendations nor did I learn about the current condition of my mouth; I had legitimate concerns that were silenced.
I went to this dentist because I changed insurances and my previous dentist doesn't take my new insurance.
I go to the dentist every six months and they always give me a standard cleaning. I wanted to continue the typical x-rays/exam/cleaning at this place, but they won't let me. Apparently, the front desk girl stated my upper teeth & gums are in poor condition and need an intense cleaning which will include a numbing lotion and antibiotic. I never heard of an antibiotic and numbing lotion for a cleaning.
This place is doing everything they can to get as much money out of people as they possibly can, which is very unfortunate. I am involved in other health studies for serious health complications and cannot be putting unnecessary antibiotics into my blood stream. I don't understand how they can argue with the customer (who pays their bills) in the middle of the waiting room full of other patients.
6. I filed a complaint with their corporate office, and later Laura spoke with me over the phone, lecturing me because I complained about her.
Laura told me I am no longer welcome at their place of business and they refuse all future services. By law, a medical practice must provide services to a patient for at least 30 days before dismissing them from a practice. Also, based on my insurance regulations, I am assigned to this practice (as they accepted me) and can only change facilities the 1st day of each month if I submit for a change by the 15th of the previous month.
I spoke with the regional supervisor regarding all these concerns once, she said she was going to call me back, but never did.
Overall, I had a terrible patient experience and left the clinic shaking due to the way I was treated. Lots of people are apprehensive about going to the dentist and staff should be compassionate toward patient anxiety and needs, but this place just argues with patients and treats them like they know nothing - all I wanted was a basic cleaning.
- On time
- Clean office
- Does not care about the customer
- Unprofessional
- Unnecessary charges
Preferred solution: a cleaning
User's recommendation: do not go to great expressions unless you expressions unless you want to be ripped off!
Charged for wrong procedure/denture to a whopping $2300.00.
Went in for a reg upper denture and a lower implant denture. Have no implants on the upper only 2 on the bottom.
I was charged for an upper implant denture. I was billed $2300 for this. Lori refused to correct the billing code so my insurance would cover the reg full upper denture. I had 2 3 way conversation with dental office, insurance n myself.
Nothing resolved.
I was told not to call or return to their office. If you call the corporate phone number you get no answer.
User's recommendation: Do not go here! My wife is a dental assistant for over 30 years n she can not believe the things this office has said n done. They are liars n cheats.
Billing policy
I forgot about a $84 bill and the manger refused to let the see my son. I made the appointment and should have told the policy.
I was very upset and not prepared to pay and I have been going here for years and they gotten a lot of money. Refused as a curiosity to allow to the dentist. Dont go anywhere where you are a loyal customer and that is not respected.
We will be going somewhere else moving forward. Sometimes these big names forget who help them get where they are at.
User's recommendation: Let your customer know before making an appointment

Verified Reviewer |If Great Expressions is your only option for dental care, I would advise you to get a pair of pliers and pull out your own teeth.
I have been trying for months to resolve a lack of service issue with the local Great Expressions office (Cascade). The customer service at the local office points to the HQ in Michigan.
The HQ in Michigan points back to the local office. You can't connect with the Michigan office because of the elaborate IVR setup they have.
When you are able to connect with what should be a person, their voicemail is full. I had to scour the internet for the CEO's email address and only after reaching out to the CEO did I get a response from the organization.
- No pros
- Poor customer service
- Unnecessary procedures
- Over billing insurance
Preferred solution: Deliver product or service ordered

Hilarious, hilarious, hilarious! What in the world makes you think this company is going to see this on THIS website?
Are you so void of common sense you can't figure out to REACH the directed company and contact, you should WRITE to that company? The elevator just doesn't reach the top floor, does it???
Agree. I like how she terms it “consultation” but allowed gum measurements, x-rays and impressions.
She doesn’t realize consultation means “I’m here to collect information”. Once she opens her mouth it’s an examination.
