I had a broken tooth emergency that required a cap. The cost was 1500. I paid out of pocket over $900 and my insurance paid $852.00, so they have been paid 1700 for a 1500 procedure. AND they tell me that I still owe them $675 or they will send me to collections. WTF. They want to get paid 2400 for a 1500 procedure. That is called fraud and theft! I am having to fight with them for over three months! AM reporting them to BBB and hiring a lawyer. Done!

POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Original review Feb 01, 2021
I went to the Walled Lake location and the service was very poor. Cancelled my appointment without notifying me, dentist shows up late, and I have to wait 40 minutes for dentist to show and for them to set up. The dental assistant has no clue what she's doing. After leaving my appointment, I had a fat lip, a welt on my lip, and the skin on the inside of my lower lip peeled off due to overstretching. I showed for my appointment and no one was there. Just to mention a few things. So I switched to the Waterford location, and after waiting 2 months for the appointment, they notified me that they won't see me until I finish my dentistry with the Walled Lake location, despite my complaints and fears. Now I have no dentist, with half completed work. The Walled Lake location started my crown (I have a temporary in now) and the Waterford location won't honor Walled Lakes work...so now my crown is at the Walled Lake location being held hostage and its already paid for. I now have to pay out of pocket for dental insurance, because I can't change dental plans until next open enrollment in December 2021. I am livid!! I only chose Great Expressions because it appears to be a better option for the plans offered at work. After this experience, I will gladly switch back to my old plan, and go back to Gantz Dental in Waterford...they were great! Never an issue! Except they didn't accept my new insurance plan (Guardian), which led me to Great Expression terrible dentistry! I wish I would have never switched. I guess you get what you pay for. Lesson learned!!

UNPROFESSIONALISM - Sydney at Midtown Atlanta Location

On 12/1/20, I was at the Atlanta Midtown Great Expressions facility for a hygienist appointment. The hygienist and her assistant very professionally proceeded to do my cleaning.

I presented the assistant my credit card for payment and she proceeded for processing. Quickly she returned to inform me that there was a prior balance on my account. I asked how much and what for. The hygienist professionally checked to help, but the reason for the outstanding fee was not clear.

The outstanding fee was $10. I asked the assistant to have Sydney run my card for my charge for my visit with the hygienist and let me speak with him when I was done and came up front regardingthe $10 outstanding balance. Well, Sydney sent the assistant back with a message for me and the hygienist that "I was not to get service/treatment until I came to pay the prior balance!" Let us be reminded that this balance was $10 whole dollars. Upon going to the front desk to speak with Sydney, Sydney did not take the time to tell me what this outstanding balance of $10 was for.

But, rather Sydney got loud unprofessional and "Catty".

I then spoke with Dr. Tutor after my appointment. Dr. Tutor apologized for Sydney's behavior.

Dr. Sydney has always been professional and an excellent provider with care. I later in the afternoon of December 1st spoke with Ms. Dee the office manager.

Ms. Dee was very pleasant and professional, as well extended regrets. Ms. Dee professionally took the time to research the $10 outstanding fee, finding that this $10 copay should have been collected on my previous visit in which I had to have an unexpected consult with one of the other dentists who was also very professional and caring.

This being the case, it was not at all my fault that the prior balance was not requested at the end of my visit prior to December 1st.

Nor could I have known that there was an outstanding.

Sydney's behavior was unprofessional, unacceptable and not the professionalism that has kept me coming back to Dr. Tudor and Great Expressions.

To yank a patient out of the chair in immature cattiness for $10 displays issues of concern.

My complaint is not against Dr. Tudor.

However, Sydney's actions reveal that Sydney is not compatible for the professionalism of Dr. Tudor nor Great Expressions.

Regrettably

A cheapskate patient goes to a cheap corporate clinic and has to pay $10. Cheapskate patient is afraid he will be bankrupted by paying $10 you owed from previous visit.

ADVICE: You might have to get a second job to pay those outrageous dental copayments.

By the way, their are plenty of excellent dentists in Atlanta. No need to go to a third-rate corporate owned clinic.

came for a routine 6 month cleaning. I left with two hours wasted, they tried to get almost 300 out of me with services that I did not come for and dont urgently need. When I declined the services then they declined my my teeth cleaning that I originally came for. BE CAREFUL and know your insurance plan line for line. Because if not, they WILL try to get over on you though billing. Time was wasted, I did not get my routine cleaning (that they first promised), and they are known for billing fraud. I should have checked their 100+ complaints on BBB(Better Business Bureau) beforehand. 3525 Busbee Dr NW Unit 200 Kennesaw, GA 30144 United States

I wish I could give negative stars about my experience here. Judging by how the doctor woman spoke to me in person, she will most likely deny my review acting like nothing happened. However, my experience is truthful and appalling which is exactly why Im writing this review. They asked me via email so here goes: First off, when I called to make a regular tooth cleaning appointment, it was supposed to be for 11am. Then I get the confirmation text saying its for 12pm. I decided to not make a big deal about that no big deal. Next, when I finally found the office, the entrance is hard to find and I had to park around a sketchy corner and walk around another medical building to get in. I go into the office, and get the paperwork to fill out. I threw away one of the sheets because I already said I didnt want anything else done like Invisalign, then the receptionist forced me to fill it out or else she wont let me in for my appointment due to incomplete paperwork. Its 12:30 now by the time i get into the chair. I sit and am told by a random woman I need full x-rays, when I told them I already had them done by my last dentist about 4 months ago. She said she had to do them to determine the type of tooth cleaning I need. I knew that was *** As Im sitting there, I look around and realize something is wrong about this place. For a health facility, it is not clean or appear to be sterile at all. The floors were covered in dirt, especially the corners, cabinets beat up, walls dirty, and exposed foam insulation and piping. I have never seen such a filthy clinic. After my x-rays are done, the woman tells me there are NO DENTAL HYGIENISTS THAT WORK HERE AND ONLY 1 DOCTOR WHO DOES EVERYTHING! That is not normal or regular. My previous dentist had at least 10 hygienists working for him. I asked why and her reason was the doctor is superwoman in a sarcastic tone then walked away. Another 30 minutes go by and the doctor comes in.... immediately she has a negative attitude, and starts pointing at my x-rays saying that I grind my teeth (which I already knew) and that its my fault due to stress. What she tells me next I couldnt believe. SHE TOLD ME TO DRINK A LARGE GLASS OF WINE BEFORE BED SINCE IM OBVIOUSLY STRESSED AND THEREFORE I HAVE ISSUES I NEED TO RESOLVE IF I WANT MY GRINDING TO STOP. Yep. A professional doctor told me to drink alcohol to solve a subconscious issue over teeth. Never in my life would I expect someone like that to say thats a resolution when its not even realistic. I dont drink alcohol at all either (which she assumed since Im young I guess?). She also called out my doctor and told me your doctor and you need to think of what you do before you take medications youre allergic to! You need to be aware of that its crazy its your responsibility!! Why would you take something youre allergic to??!! And I said he gave me them before I knew I was allergic, therefore it was no ones fault and why does it matter here when Im in for a standard Medicaid tooth cleaning. Yet she kept raising her voice and getting frustrated in my face while Im sitting quiet knowing its not worth arguing with her and I want to quietly get the heck out and never come back. What she said was absurd, and then told me I needed a $1000 tooth guard made, which she will give me a special offer of $400 to do right now. Im on Medicaid for a reason. I told her I came for a simple tooth cleaning, just graduated college, still dont have a career yet, and am sorry that I cant pay for that and am not interested. She then told me that Im essentially a fool if I dont take advantage of the offer, and that I need to go find the money somewhere to get it and that my over the counter guards are garbage and will cause me to damage all my teeth. I was appalled and disgusted by everything she said to me and how she said it by tossing the paper on the counter angrily right in front of me. She told me to sign the a paper to prove we talked about it which is still felt uncomfortable. I didnt want to sign anything for this place. I have never felt so upset by any doctor or any person ever, and I was quiet the whole time until I finally got to leave after two hours. Which she neglected to do my tooth cleaning that appointment due to it needing pre-authorized ahead of time, but she had no problem getting a pre-authorization for the $1000 tooth guard in 10 minutes. Weird how that worked out. I went hoping for a tooth cleaning that Medicaid provides 2 a year for, and left feeling grossed out and angry. How dare a professional act like that. I feel terribly for the other people who have no choice but to go there. Id rather not have my teeth cleaned ever than go here. When I got home, I told my grandma about it and told her I should have set up a camera or something because I felt like I was on an episode of the show What Would You Do? Except Johnny never came out and what happened, happened. I will be contacting my Medicaid provider about this experience as well.

One thing in your story doesn't add up. If you had x-rays done at another dentist 4 months ago, why did you go to a Shi!tShack like Great Expressions for a cleaning?

And why did you not get x-ray copies sent to Great Expressions beforehand? No dental office can tell the type of cleaning you need without being able to visualize the tartar on x-ray. There was no hygienist because no decent hygienists want to work at sleazy chain clinics like Great Expressions. Mopping floors in Waffle House is a more respectable occupation.

Sorry but here is a fact: Moochercaid dental fees are so low dentists lose money treating patients. Nobody really wants those patients in their practice.

In fact, I am surprised that even Great Expressions messes with Moochercaid. Even Aspen doesn't!

Refund requested for overcharge in 2016...still waiting for refund in 2020!!!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I have two insurances policies &;;;;;; expressed that both would pay on bill. They agreed to bill both insurances, but refused to believe they would both pay. The result is I was required to pay a $400 copay for 2 separate crowns ($800). Then after my insurances were both finally billed, my second insurance paid Great Expressions an additional $698 above what my primary insurance said was payment in full (as a participating provider they had to accept the primary amount as payment in full). After fighting with the office for an additional year, they finally put the $698 credit on my account. Now it is August 2020, almost 4 YEARS after the initial services & 3 YEARS after they agreed to issue my refund, I am still waiting for the refund check. The office always tells me I need to talk to the manager (who is never available) & they take a message, which is never returned. When I physically go into the office, to force the conversation, I am told all refunds are handled through a "Main billing office" which they have no phone number they can share with me. I am told they will contact them fr me & request the refund to be sent to me. Each time (at least 4 separate times) I was told I should have my refund in 2 weeks, BUT IT NEVER COMES!!!! I finally found a phone number for the "MAIN BILLING OFFICE" on my own, but the number is always busy. After 2 months of regular calling I finally got through to an automated system & was put in a queue for the next available representative...I waited in the queue for OVER 3 HOURS WITH NO ONE ACTUALLY COMING ON THE LINE!!!!!!!! I only want the money that is owed to me.

So how much money did you save, when all your wasted time is factored in, going to a sleazy corporate dental clinic instead of an honest independent dentist?

Horrible customer service

I am trying to create an account online and it's not going through. I've called multiple numbers for this company and no one answers the phone. I pick the option to receive a call back and no one calls back. I've picked the option to speak to a representative and I'm on hold for over 60 minutes. This company has the worst customer service I've experienced.

Substandard care

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Over a series of years (and an endless parade of different dentists) I have had severely substandard care at the local office and have finally taken my business to a "real" dentist in private practice who has been my sister and her family's dentist for years. He has been repairing the poor work of Great Expressions (ha). A week ago he discovered that three fillings were put in without bonding agent and said the tooth would have been better off with "no dentistry" compared to what was done. Through the years I've had numerous fillings fail within a year or less of installation. The last x-rays did not include all my teeth, according to my current dentist. He was kind enough to redo them for free, since my insurance wouldn't pay for two sets of x-rays mere weeks apart. The poor care is too great to enumerate here. Your company is a disgrace and I should probably sue for malpractice. The only reason I went there is it is the only in-network provider for my *** insurance.

One of the best ways of finding an incompetent dentist is patronizing one of the Prostituting Providers on your insurance list. Nobody but losers sign the one-sided contracts to be on these lists.
